7 Months Later

It's official, my Little Chasey is 7 months old (tomorrow). As I look back on these 7 months, there's a few things I'd like to reflect on as I gulp down my glass of wine.

1) Thank goodness the first 3 months are done with, the nonstop crying was sending me over the edge. As a result, I constantly got in trouble by Ben for exceeding the allowed monthly budget for wine purchases (to which I just lovingly rolled my eyes).

2) It's great that you don't need your pacifier during the day, which is why I'm baffled that you so desperately need it at night. The waking-up-and-crying-thing because you can't find your pacifier isn't really all that cute. So let's make a deal... either figure out how to re-binky yourself or let's kick the habit altogether. Deal?

3) You're a smiler, and I'm not used to that as Braedyn was a serious baby. You never allowed me to get too frustrated with you, because at the worst of times, you'd give me that big ole' toothless grin. And who doesn't melt at the sight of that.

4) It took several months, but you eventually figured out that you are supposed to actually sleep through the night, instead of waking up every couple hours. I was in heaven with the 11-12 hour nighttime stretches. Then something strange happened, you regressed to 10 hour stretches. While this is still good, the problem is that you now wake up at 4:30 am for a feeding. So you're still 1.5 hours too early, let's work on that, alright?

5) I love that you're growing at a healthy rate, but what do ya say that we slow that down just a tad bit. You see, here's my dilemma... you're just now turning 7 months old, and you've been wearing 12-month clothing for a few weeks now. Please let me enjoy the last of these infant months without me having to dress my baby in 18-month clothing.

6) I'm glad that you love your brother so much, but just because you want to be like him, doesn't mean that you have to pout and cry everytime that he starts to pout.

7) It's great that you've learned to grab things and hold them. But this thing with you grabbing and pulling a fistful of my hair isn't really all that funny.

8) I love how you give me open mouth kisses on the cheek, even if that's not your actual intention. I would love this even more if you didn't pick that precise moment to spit up.

9) I promise to talk Daddy into taking a mini-Disney vacation in the fall. Regardless of what he thinks, I know you'll appreciate it very much.

10) I got the shaft on this with Braedyn, so I really need to come through for me on this one. Let's try to make sure that your first word is "ma-ma", not "da-da". You got that... let's say it together, MA-MA. If I hear you utter "da-da" anytime soon, I will be taking back #9 above.

I was thinking of Disney in the fall myself but only for a day. A friend from Canada will be at Disney and I thought I'd swing down too for a day to say hello to her.

I can't believe he is 7 months already! Time seems to pass really fast for everyone else! I'm on week 3 and already I want him to sit up and recognize me and smile!!
