Fall Frenzy

As in, our Fall schedule is always so packed that it sends me into a frenzy. Is frenzy even a word? The more I look at it, the funnier the word looks. In case you can't tell, I'm seriously sleep deprived. Alright, here we go - our Fall so far...

We took the boys to the pumpkin patch this year. I'm not quite sure what I expected to see at the pumpkin patch, but upon arrival, I looked around and saw nothing but pumpkins. And that's it, just pumpkins. No hay, no hayride, no nothing. So we did what every other family did, we generously let the boys pick out a small pumpkin, paid the $1.50, and called it a day.

This next picture ranks up there with our Top 5 Fabulous Family Photos. It's the Worrisome-Looking Scarecrow and the Sleeping Kitty Cat. This is pretty much as good as it gets when it comes to these cardboard cutouts. My boys are not fans of these things.

We took the kids to the Zoo Boo Bash at the local zoo. Our local zoo is far from spectacular, but they were giving away free candy and it has a choo-choo train ride. These two things make it the Best Zoo Ever in the minds of our two little boys. And I guess that's all that really matters anyway!

Another attempt at a family picture. Emphasis on the word "attempt". I figure in another two years, we may finally accomplish the impossible feat of getting everyone to look at the camera at the same time.

In previous years, I was generally ready for Halloween well before the actual holiday. But this year, I was hunting through the leftovers at Target 3 days before Halloween. It was a sad situation, if I must say so myself! Braedyn wanted to be a pirate, so I found him an outfit... that was one size too big.

I got a cute little puppy dog outfit for Chase, but he refused to put it on... period. He wouldn't try it on 3 days before Halloween, nor on Halloween. So I threw a jersey on him and called him a football player. And then he confiscated Braedyn's pirate hat, which just totally completed his outfit, or something like that.

Chase was a bit unsure of what exactly was going on, but Braedyn was ready to go. Or as he put it, "I'm ready to get candy in my pumpkin". Such a well mannered child, eh?

Braedyn was a little tentative at first, but after several houses, he was a trick-or-treating pro. As Ben pointed out, it's moments like this - standing back and watching your child trick-or-treat - that make you realize just how big your kids are getting. ::sigh::

And where was Chase at? Oh, well he was in the stroller and refused to get out. And he had this look on his face the entire time. But hey, at least he was still wearing the pirate hat.

After a solid 35 minutes, he finally decided that he will give this trick-or-treating thing a try. This was the first house that Chase went to. And he, umm, well, he basically just helped himself. Yup, that's my child, we're so proud.

Here are the boys checking out their candy stash near the end of the night. I was amazed that they didn't even attempt to try to eat the candy while out trick-or-treating... which was nothing short of a miracle!

Once we got home, Braedyn took off his costume, Chase took off Braedyn's pirate hat (lmao), and they promptly starting digging through their Halloween Loot.

As soon as they went to bed, I took out all the stuff I wanted (come on now, you know you did the exact same thing!), got rid of whatever they couldn't eat, and left them with a handful of candy in each bucket. And by the end of the night, I had rekindled my love affair with Reeses Pieces and Skittles. These are good times!
