Hello Fall Weather, I've Missed You!

After staying inside for way too many weekend days to escape the heat, I am happy to say that the Fall weather is finally here. Only problem is, the beautiful Fall weather means a packed schedule. I honestly have no idea where the minutes, days and hours go. It's beyond me. And this blog post will probably take the course of 2-3 days to finish, but hey, it's a post. So be happy. Mmm-kay?!?

I remember Braedyn's first Halloween... 3 years ago. I think I started searching in June for the perfect costume. Now, with two boys... yeah, no... not so much. I looked in the closet for hand-me-downs, and let the boys have some fun trying on their potential costumes...

You have to admit, Chase is nothing short of 100% adorabe in this dinosaur outfit, the same outfit Braedyn wore last year. Only problem is that it's about 1-2 inches too small on him. And trust me, when it comes to comfort on Halloween night, that 1-2 inches is a big deal.

Here is Braedyn in a Scooby-Doo outfit passed down from his cousin. While it's super cute, the head of the costume weighs about 5 lbs. It won't last the first 5 minutes. So one week after trying on too small or too heavy hand-me-downs, I started to feel guilty. So we took a trip to Target.

There was nothing worth mentioning for Braedyn, except for that $30 Buzz Lightyear costume that I hid from him... I mean, really, $30?!?, come on now! And when Chase excitedly picked out a cute lion costume, he quickly refused to try it on. At this point, Ben told me how Braedyn recently said, "I want to be a ghost, and Chase too". After asking Braedyn myself, and him emphatically agreeing to be a ghost for Halloween, we quickly headed to the Target exit. I reluctantly realized that I'd be ghettofying my children at the ages of 3 and 2, by throwing an old sheet or pillowcase over their head and calling it a costume. Yeah, umm, there probably won't be any pictures to showcase of Halloween night, I'm pretty sure I'll accidentally forget my camera at home. Just saying...

In early October, we visited a carnival at one of the local private schools. Last year, Chase was way too young for the rides, and pretty much slept the whole time in the stroller. But this year, he was not going to be left behind. As Chase is very much into choo-choo trains now, this was the first ride the boys went on.

I think it was during the third loop around the track when Chase started to freak out and cry, and Braedyn just stared at him, as if to say, "What are you crying about? We're on a choo-choo train... a real life choo-choo train!!" But that didn't matter, Chase was scared and not happy. So the next ride, we let Braedyn ride alone and made Chase sit it out, watching from the sidelines. We talked to Chase about how he couldn't go on the rides unless he wasn't scared (translation: Look Kid, these ride tickets are ultra-expensive. We can't waste them, so either ride without crying , or don't ride at all.) You know, tough love and all. =)~ Well, all it took was one ride for Chase to realize how the big boys do it.

From this point on, Chase insisted on going on all the rides with Braedyn, and not one single tear was shed! This, of course, is fabulous news considering the County fair comes to town next month. And those ride bracelets aren't cheap!

During the first weekend of cooler temps (read as: temps below 90-degrees), we headed to Sea World. I had just gotten a new camera and was excited to try it out. I envisioned all these fabulous looking pictures from our day. The first thing we visited was the dolphin tank.

Then after I took a few pictures here, my camera battery light turned red and started to blink rapidly. Two minutes later, the camera battery died. And that was the end of the fabulous new camera pictures. Note to Self: The battery charger is there for a reason... use it.

The boys favorite form of free entertainment is the pet store. As Ben and I watched the store clerk scoop some dead fish out of the tank, the boys were oblivious and totally focused on the turtles and the fish that were actually alive and swimming around.

Ben wants a fish tank. He's talking more and more about getting one. If we do get one, we may have to borrow the store cerk from the pet store... you know, to help us scoop all the dead fish out after a week. I mean, let's be real, the fish would be the fourth on the totem poll for getting fed, behind us, the kids, and the cats. How often do you really think we'll remember to feed them? I'm just saying...

I hear you about the time! No idea what ever happens to mine. I only know that I don't have enough!

Art wanted and fish tank and got one (or two...). Since Ben wants the fish, make feeding them his responsibility (along with cleaning it, which I think takes more time and dedication). Good luck with the fish!!!

I have plenty of time...and still don't get a damn thing done. Call me lazy or preggo.

We have two fish...had three and one died and these two goldfish have been hanging on. We went away for a week and thought surely they would be dead upon our return...nope, alive and kicking. Go small and see how it goes.

Spencer loved the NC State Fair...but he was too small to ride a lot of stuff. But his favorite thing? Those big slides you go down on a potato sack with. He and his Daddy went down about a dozen times and he laughed and squealed each and every time!
