Braedyn's 3rd Birthday

So guess what, I finally managed to go through all 199 pictures from the birthday party. Wow, that was quite a task, but I'm not complaining. A big ole' *Thank You* to my great friend, Joy (aka: My Event Photographer) for coming through for me once again.

So technically, Braedyn doesn't turn three until a few days before Christmas, but it's only fair that he's given ample time to play with his Birthday Loot before he receives his Christmas Loot. Given Braedyn's love for trains, it was a no-brainer to go with a Thomas the Train theme. And once again, Publix created a masterpiece Thomas the Train cake that was beyond delicious!

After setting the cake on the table, I knew I had about 2 minutes flat before Braedyn would be climbing up on a chair to dig into the cake. So my photographer had to work fast to get some pictures. After we put the Thomas train piece on the cake, Braedyn dutifully pointed to the blue train and said "That's Thomas".

I graciously thanked him for telling me that, since you know, ummm, I still hadn't figured that out after watching 263 Thomas dvd videos? The first thing Braedyn tried to do was pull the cake towards him. So he grabbed the sides and tried to pull. Of course, all that did was make handprints in the side of the cake, but you gotta give the kid an A+ for effort.

To get this party rolling, I asked Braedyn if he was ready to eat some of his birthday cake. After excitedly shouting, "Yes", he did what any 3-year old birthday boy would do... he gave Mommy "the money shot" I was hoping for.

(Notice the indentions on the sides of the cake from where he grabbed it.) Because he gave me the opportunity to get this wonderful snapshot, I snuck an extra present into his pile (but don't tell Ben that). After Braedyn's cake dive, it was the usual birthday party stuff. You know, a little of, "No, that's my choo-choo train"... "Braedyn's birthday cake"... "That's Braedyn's balloons"... just a typical 3-year old laying claim to everything he owned, and then some!

When it came time to open the presents, we barely got past the first one as he "oohed" and "aahed" when he saw it was a big bucket of plastic animals.

After finally managing to convince Braedyn that he can play with his new toys soon, he finally went back to opening more presents. And was he ever-so-happy that he did, because he got lots of things that he loved. And let me tell you, nothing makes a mommy smile more than hearing her little boy "ooh", "aah", and gasp in surprise and delight at his new presents.

After he received a ton of his favorite items - Handy Manny Motorcyle, Handy Manny Tool Box, Choo Choo Trains, Kid's Guitar, Tractors, Books, DVD's, Games, Puzzles, and Train Track Accessories - this kid had so many new toys that he didn't even bat an eye when the other kids started to play with them. Well, that is until they tried to play with the train tracks. Next time, I'll just post a big sign that says, "Play with whatever the heck you want, EXCEPT for anything train related".  =)~

Here's a cute picture of Grammy Judi helping Braedyn set up his jungle animals.

Notice his new train that he has a death grip on. And in case you don't already know, he'll tell you over and over, "this is James". That's right people, James is the red train, get with the program!

While all this was going on, Chase was shoveling in the sugar-filled buttercream icing by the spoonful...

... trying his best to get a sugar rush so he'd have the energy to stay awake for the rest of the party.

And last but not least, my most favorite picture of the entire party...

Yep, that's right folks. That would be three (count 'em, THREE) generations of Wormeck men, doing what they do best, watching football and completely oblivious to anything going on around them. I think every now and then they would wave a hand in the air, which I'm sure symbolized either "food" or "drink", but I can't be totally sure.

So this concludes my Little Boy's third birthday party. I'm still not sure what to think about him being three already. It's all so bittersweet... it's a great age and by far the best birthday yet since he was completely aware of everything going on. But on the flipside, my firstborn child is three already! How did this happen?  ::sigh::

A huge THANK YOU to all our friends and family that came over to celebrate Braedyn's birthday. It truly does mean more than you know. And once again, thanks to my photographer... I would never be able to have these wonderful picture memories without you (so make sure to clear your calendar well in advance for the next party).
