We had Braedyn's 3rd birthday party this weekend, and he was the most excited little boy ever! He is still going around today randomly shouting out, "Birthday Party Cake". However, I'm still trying to filter through the 200 pictures, so that post is on hold for a few days. But look at the bright side, maybe you'll get two posts in one week from me, which is a miracle in itself! But lucky for you, I've got plenty of stuff to catch you up on...
A few weeks ago, we took the boys to Sea World. Braedyn has been a few times before, but it was Chase's first time. Braedyn is at that wonderful age where he will sit through the shows without getting bored after 5 minutes. However, Chase's attention span is still less than 5 minutes 45 seconds, so Ben entertained him while Braedyn and I watched the shows. Luckily though, Chase is old enough to enjoy the kiddie rides.
At Shamu's Happy Harbour, the kiddie section of Sea World, there is this huge play area where kids can climb through rope tunnels. You walk up several stairs to get there, and once you start it, the only way back down is through the same tunnels you crawled up through. Braedyn was always too little for this before, but this time he basically dragged me up the stairs. I thought for sure he wouldn't go through with it, because it looks pretty daunting when you see it, but he continued on. And of course, I had no choice but to follow him.
I attempted to put the Christmas tree up the day after Thanksgiving. It went something like this... I managed to get the tree up while the boys were napping, and then I finally was able to start decorating after both boys went to bed for the evening. Needless to say, it was a very late night for me.
But I love having our Christmas tree up and the lights on at night, so it's all worth it. We also bought a small tree for the boys, and Braedyn liked to decorate that. Mainly because it was full of all his cartoon characters that he loves.
And luckily for me, he is still at that stage where he will often smile for the camera... unlike his stone-faced brother!

The first two minutes were okay, but then my knees were sore and aching. Braedyn kept going, as if he could do this all day. Seriously, I am getting so friggin' old! So after climbing and climbing and climbing some more, we finally get to the end. I'm thinking, "Finally, I can't wait to see what cool stuff is at the top of the tunnel". It took about 2.3 seconds for me to be extremely disappointed when I realized what we climbed all that way for.
A tire swing? You're joking, right? A tire swing?!? I can get this at my local park, down the road from our house, for free!! Even Braedyn was less than impressed, but I made him get on the swing for a picture since he made me climb all the way for a tire swing!
We finally climbed back down, and after applying Bengay and a heating pad to my knees, we continued on with a few more rides that Chase really enjoyed.
So since we were having such great luck with Braedyn enjoying the shows and both boys enjoying the rides, we figured we would try our luck with a family picture. And THAT is right about the point where our luck completely ran out.
But on the upside, 3 out of 4 looking at the camera isn't too shabby. And let's be honest, this is pretty much what all of our family picture attempts look like anyway. Thank goodness I don't rely on these to create Christmas cards, otherwise we'd go about 5 years without mailing any out.

Of course, his favorite thing to do is swing the Sesame Street ornaments back and forth on the tree, and for some reason, Big Bird is always the one that is found in random places around the house.
Surprisingly, Chase has absolutely zero interest in the Christmas trees. But I guess that's a good thing, because with him having no interest in pulling stuff off the tree, and Braedyn having his own tree, there has only been one broken ornament of our main tree this year - which is considerably less than the 5 or 6 that we tallied up last year!
And Sweet Mother of Miracles, would you look at this... Chase is finally able to sit still for an extended period of time.
That would be approximately 18 seconds flat. But hey, getting this kid to sit for longer than 2 seconds is no small feat, so we're quite proud of his progression!
