This was the best Christmas thus far, and I imagine it only gets better as the kids get older. Braedyn didn't quite fully grasp the whole Santa Claus thing, but he understood it enough to know that there would be presents under the tree on Christmas Day. And Chase was pretty much just going with the flow. I've got lots of pictures to share, so here we go...
Here is the tree Christmas Eve after all the presents were stacked under it. Ben thought there were several presents too many, but I thought there could've been several more added to this stack. =) I am pretty much assuming that we will always disagree on this.
When the boys got up for the morning, Braedyn walked straight to the tree and let out a little *gasp* and said, "Woah". Chase was headed to the kitchen to get his usual yogurt and cheese, so we had to divert him towards the Christmas tree.
The first thing Braedyn did was pull out all the big presents from under the tree and say, "this is mine". The kid learns quick, huh? Lucky for him, one of those big presents was for him!
As Chase watched Braedyn open one or two presents, he seemed less than impressed with the whole Christmas thing. That is, until he opened up this little toy.
I mean, we all know that Chase's favorite hobby is walking. So throw in something to push while he's walking, and he is one very happy tot!!
Braedyn has recently developed a huge fascination for dinosaurs. And since all my Christmas shopping was done online in early November, I had to go out and buy a few last minute gifts. Because there was no way I'd let this Christmas pass without some dinosaur loot under the tree.
And I'm glad I did, because he was extremely happy when he tore the wrapping off to discover these dinosaurs. Of course, it took Ben about 20 minutes to get these things unstrapped from the box, but that's a whole other story.
At some point during all the present opening, Chase decided he really only cared about the wrapping paper and boxes. And he proceeded to go around picking up all the paper and putting it in the garbage bag. I mean, I wasn't actually complaining about this, but I did have to wait about 10 minutes before I could get him back to the presents.
He finally took a short break from loading up the trash bag to open another present, which made me very happy since up to this point, 90% of the pictures of him included a trash bag full of wrapping paper. And if I remember correctly, it was right about now when Chase decided he had enough and wasn't opening any more presents until he had his yogurt and cheese.
It's funny because last Christmas, Braedyn opened up two whole presents before he demanded his yogurt with a side of Yo Gabba Gabba. We seriously didn't finish opening presents until noon last year. But trust me when I tell you that Braedyn had no interest in eating breakfast, and while Chase was refueling himself, Braedyn didn't show any signs of needing a break from opening the presents.
And as Braedyn found out, some of the best presents are the smaller ones, especially since he loves his books and dvd's.
Chase was thoughtful enough to rejoin us and finish opening up his gifts. I do have to say that he was more into the whole Christmas thing than I originally imagined. Since I assumed he'd have little interest in it this year, I was pleasantly surprised.
It's rare that we get decent pictures of both the boys together, and I think this is one of the only good ones from this morning. Just a nice candid shot of the boys enjoying their new gifts.
And with that, our Christmas Day is over. Although I wouldn't be lying if I said I am already very much looking forward to next year when the boys are a year older and that much more aware of Christmas and Santa Claus.
It's hard to believe that we have reached the end of another decade. Thinking about that makes me feel so old, and makes me realize all too much how fast time really does pass by. So as this year comes to an end, I have decided that it is a good time to close out this little blog of mine. While I do enjoy writing about my precious boys, there are so many more things that are demanding my time as the boys get older.
So with that, I would like to thank all of you for being interested enough to read our blog for this long, and we wish all of you a Very Happy 2010.

Too funny, Spencer got one of those popper things too! He loves it!!
Hey, didn't you just start this blog again? Boo!
Well Patty... I can feel your pain. I have officially determined that I suck at keeping up with this stuff w/ everything else that eats up my time. I will miss reading about the little guys, but do truly understand. Heck, I cant even find enough time to get on Facebook and then feel overwhelmed when I do because it's been so long. Last time I was really on was around Thanksgiving! Shot me an email every now and then. Take care! Jen
