Books and More

First, before I get to my blurb on books, here are some pictures of Braedyn and the cat bed tower that ummm, well... I just have no words for.

I'm not quite sure what he was looking for, but he pulled his head out of there and was laughing. So we did what any proud parents would do... we clapped our hands and cheered him on so we could get more pictures of him in action. =)

So lately, Braedyn has been fascinated with his books - which of course just thrills me to death!! He prefers his books over his toys, and will actually go grab a book and bring it to me or Ben so we can read it to him. And after reading these books to Braedyn, there is something that we have realized - children's books make no damn sense whatsoever!! Grammy Judi gave Braedyn the book Goodnight Moon, which apparently is supposed to be a classic. This is the jist of the book: it introduces a bunch of objects, then tells them all goodnight. I was kind of playing along until I started to read "goodnight comb, goodnight brush, goodnight bowl full of mush". Huh? What the heck? THIS is a classic? Okay, Okay, so maybe my child-like imagination still needs a lot of help, but seriously... "goodnight bowl full of mush"?!?

This picture above is Braedyn flipping through one of his books. But I actually took this picture for another reason. Raise your hand if your child - at Braedyn's age - had a belly like this. You can't even see the buttons on his pants because of his little (and I use that word lightly) gut that hangs over! I remember asking the pediatrician about this at his one-year appointment, and she reassured me that he was completley normal and all babies have big bellies. Seriously? As big as Braedyn's? Really?

Okay, so on to my issues. I've been wanting to get back into reading, and my friend Melisa S. kept sending me emails to make a bookshelf on www.shelfari.com - which I finally did (although I'm sure the books on my shelf aren't nearly as intellectual as Melisa's bookshelf, but hey, at least I'm reading). So this weekend, I was talking with my MIL Judi about books, and she told me about the Shopaholic book series. I took her advice and started reading the first book of the series - Confessions of a Shopaholic.

My question is this: How is it that I completely missed out on these books when they first came out?!? This book is the greatest thing ever. I am so addicted and can't put the damn book down. I almost feel guilty for reading such a book, you know... since it's not some book about war or politics or some other boring, real-life issue. But when the guilt starts to set in, I just keep telling myself, "hell, this book makes a whole lot more sense than 'a bowl full of mush'." And with that very thought, I take a sip of my coca-cola on the rocks, cozy up under the blankets, and happily continue reading this fabulous creation...guilt-free.

Oh my goodness! I LOVE the picture of him in, actually in the cat tower. That is priceless!!

Look, hun, reading is reading. Chick lit is now a big genre, so read on. And my shelf is not that intellectual....for goodness sake I read a lot fo young adult!

He is too cute :o) I wonder if I have heard of Goodnight Moon. Montana has so many books I can't remember them all but don't recall that one. But i will say that sometimes Montana will say "goodbye"(not 'goodnight') to everything in the room or that passes by when we are in the car...it is too cute.
