In the Driver's Seat

Usually after I get home from picking Braedyn up from preschool, I close the garage door before getting him out of the car so he doesn't try to run away and escape. Then we proceed into the house, but not before he stops to pick up one or two things out of the recycle bin to bring back into the house (yeah, I know, I'm baffled by this also). But nonetheless, I was proud of how I *trained* Braedyn to walk to the door and follow me in the house after I get him out of his car seat.

Well, while I was out of town this week, Ben apparently let Braedyn crawl around and play in the car after they got home. So every day since then, after I get Braedyn out of the car, he heads straight for the passenger door and tries to open it. I mean, he doesn't even care about the recycle bin anymore!! At first I didn't quite know what was going on, but I opened the passenger door anyway because I had to get stuff out of the front seat. He proceeds to try to climb in the car. So I help him up as I'm intrigued by all of this, and this is what happens...

First, he amuses me by patiently posing for the camera. Can you tell he has this face like "hurry the hell up, I'm on a mission here".

Then he climbs over to the driver's side, and starts turning the blinkers and lights on and off. Before long, he's grabbing all the knobs and even attempts to move the gear shifter.

Then he stands up (you know, to get a better view) and starts to move the steering wheel back and forth. At one point, he even reached up and adjusted the rearview mirror.

And the end result of all of this... I get in my car this morning, turn it on, and the a/c is on full blast, my blinkers are on, and my rearview mirror is facing the ceiling. I think this basically means that we definitely need to bring more toys in the car for Braedyn to entertain himself, because he is definitely watching Mommy and Daddy way too much while we're driving!

And trust me, I've tried to distract Braedyn and get him in the house as soon as we get home, but he's not having any of that! So, I would like to extend a big ole' THANK YOU to Ben, my wonderful husband that started this fad. For now I am subjected to staying in the garage - the very hot garage - for at least 5-10 minutes after arriving home for the day. The things you do to entertain your child (and husband)...

Mommy This and That said...

I guess we are lucky that today's cars are not like yesteryear's cars and he can do that! But what this really tells me is that Ben has a lot of free time if he is ok with spending an extra 10 minutes out in the garage! LOL

I think he is traing him to be a race car driver like on TV. Can you see him in the winners circle at the Daytona 400 shaking up his 7 up and spraying it all over everybody. Connie T.

He is too cute and I thought maybe he was trying to eat/taste the steering wheel, lol.
