Well, it depends on who you ask. If you ask Braedyn, it is the Torture Chamber! So I finally broke down and took Braedyn to my hair stylist, Amber, for his first professional haircut. And let me tell you, the toddler bed transition is a piece of cake compared to this nightmare event. Let me lay it all out for you...
It started out okay, until we put him in the seat. Yeah, I know, that is Step #1, as you can see, we didn't make it very far before Braedyn freaked out. He tried to jump down from the seat (literally). We gave him a lollipop, which calmed him down and he stayed in his seat... until Amber tried to put the cape on him. That didn't go over very well because he wanted his arms out where he could see them. So the cape came off. Once Amber started to comb his hair, he really tried to get off the chair and wasn't taking "no" for an answer. So this is the point where I had to hold him. Of course, that didn't help much either because apparently having someone mess with your hair is the absolute worst thing in the world for a Little Boy.
I had my camera handy with good intentions of taking lots of pictures to memorialize this event. Sadly enough, with my hands full, I couldn't take any pictures. Thankfully, one of the ladies in the salon was able to capture a few pictures for me... you know, so I would never forget this wonderful moment.
So after what seemed like forever, Amber finished his hair, and amazingly did a pretty good job considering Little Boy's demeanor. I've never seen Braedyn wave "bye-bye" as quickly as he did to Amber. In fact, he waved and said "bye-bye" three times, just to reinforce to me that he was more than ready to get the hell out of that place. And ironically, once he realized we were leaving, his tears quickly disappeared and were replaced with a huge grin.
The good news is that his hair doesn't look like a mop-top anymore, and now he looks like a handsome little man. So to celebrate making it through the 15 minutes of hell, naturally I had to stop and get myself a smoothie. (Calm down, Little Boy got a cookie too.) However, Braedyn somehow ended up with MY smoothie, and I ended up with HIS partially eaten cookie. Not quite sure how that happened, nor am I quite sure how he was able to devour almost my entire smoothie. He was, however, kind enough to leave me an ounce or two. I guess that's called Love... maybe.

I feel your pain!!! At the ripe old age of 5, Nicholas has just now sat through 2 haircuts on his own. He screamed, cried, etc and sat on my all the other times at the salon. Then, the times I tried it by myself at home and he threw up on me from crying so much. I even tried it in the bathtub once and he threw up! But now, he actually has had 2 haircuts by himself, sitting in the chair without me getting covered in hair! Wow, what a relief! I wish you a speedier transition than I had!
Have you taken him to the Nestles plant smoothie shop. down by Chili's. That is a must be regular shop. Really. Connie T.
P.S. That is where I get my hair cut. The cut aabove has moved down there.
