Daycare Transition & Yada Yada Yada

You'll be happy to know that the boys survived the first week at their new daycare. The one I was most worried about was Braedyn since he's older and more aware of what's going on. Or maybe it's that I knew Chase would just resume his screaming once he was faced with a new set of teachers, so I was prepared for that. Regardless, I am happy to report that Braedyn is doing fabulous. He is actually excited to go to school in the morning and had a great week. I mean, don't get me wrong, the first day was brutal... both boys were crying. But after that, Braedyn really settled into his new room. I can't help but think Braedyn likes having new toys, new playmates, and new things to look at, because he's taken to this place remarkably well.

And then there's Chase. You know, this guy...

You see that cutie-pie with the awesome smile? Well unfortunately, his daycare teachers didn't see that smile - for the first two days anyway. Chase screamed alot, had a rough first day, but slowly improved each day. By Wednesday afternoon, he was doing really well. And aside from him crying when I dropped him off, Thursday and Friday were great days. Of course, just when he starts to get used to things, the weekend is here and we'll have to start all over again tomorrow. But hopefully things go much smoother this week with our Little Chasey. And oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention... Chasey has screamed so much this week that he is losing his voice. Nice, huh?

Today was a monumental day - I threw out all the remaining bottles and formula that were left over from Chase. It was such a good feeling to know that the newborn/infant stage is behind us... well, until Baby #3 comes along. (Ben probably just choked on whatever he was eating when he read that line, haha.) Seriously though, Chase has been off the bottle and completely on table foods and sippy cups for about a month now. He's also been off the pacifier at home for about 4 months. They still use it at school every so often to calm him down (only in the morning), but hopefully after another week or two at his new school, we'll be completely done with that also.

Chase has also reverted to one nap a day, so both him and Braedyn nap from 12 - 2. This is a magical time on the weekends as Ben and I are so giddy with these 2 hours of silence! Chase's newest thing is clapping his hands, it's the cutest thing because he has this huge grin plastered on his face when he does it. In fact, the only thing Chase hasn't done yet is uttered his first word. No matter how much we repeat words to him, he just looks at us and smiles. Hmmm... like everything else, I guess Chase will give in to talking when he's damn well and ready!

Did you know that tonight was the start of the pro football season (or at least the first exhibition game or whatever). Yeah, I didn't either, until I was informed by Ben that he'd be watching the game tonight and would be "off kid-duty" for the weekends during football season. I just looked at him and laughed, he can be quite comical sometimes. The only good thing is that this means there is an end in sight to these unbearable hot and humid days. Hopefully after one more month, I'll be able to breathe when I walk outside. And more importantly, we can start planning more outdoor events, like Disney World, Sea World, and the zoo. Oh how that excites me!!

Must be something with the 2nd child. Katie was an angel and Kaiden, well wasn't. I always blamed it on him being a boy but guess that's not the case, huh?
