Let's see, where should I start... I'll have to tell you the short version, otherwise my head might start throbbing again. It all started Monday night when I went to bed early with a slight sore throat. Woke up Tuesday feeling like crap, so I took the day off to rest. My day of rest was interrupted at 10:15 am with a call from daycare, Braedyn had become suddenly sick so I went to pick him up. I miraculously managed to get him into the pediatrician's that afternoon, it turns out he has an ear infection. We got him some good antibiotics, but he was slated to stay home on Wednesday since he was still sick, exhausted, and had no appetite.
Then comes Wednesday, this would be the day that I woke up with a 103.4 fever, massive throat pain, throbbing headache, and oh yeah, I also foolishly believed that I could take care of Braedyn that day, as well as drag him to the doctor with me. I think I made it until 8:25 a.m., and then I had to call Ben to tell him to come back home from work because I couldn't even get off the couch to play with Braedyn. I was pretty positive that I had the flu, and that scared the crap out of me considering I have two little ones. I finally made it to the doctor and after reviewing my chart, he asks me if I've been around anyone with the flu. My initial thought was, "umm, yeah, I just randomly hang out with people who have the flu on a daily basis", but I was in so much pain that all I could do was shake my head no. When he finally looked in my mouth, he said, "oh my, that's not the flu, you have a severe case of strep throat". I was relieved... sort of. I got my script for some penicillin, got it filled, made it home by 10:30, and slept from 10:35 to 3:30. Yep, it was THAT bad.
Today is Day 3 of being sick, and while the antibiotics have helped somewhat today - meaning I was able to advance from the bed to the couch - I'm still so worn down, have a constant headache, and no appetite. I have never had strep throat before, and now I realize how lucky I was. I can't ever remember being in this much pain while sick. It's the pits!
So with all this sickness in our household, I only have happy pictures of Chase and Ben to show you since Braedyn and I were anything but happy this week! Just recently, Chase started picking up the basketball and tries to put it in the basketball hoop. Only problem is, he's several inches to short.
Luckily, he looked pitiful enough that Ben came to his aid and gave him a lift up, which made him so unbelievably happy!
Yep, that's it, that's all the cute pictures you get for now. Deal with it!
As a sidenote, Ben and I were just talking last week about how much accrued leave I had at work since I haven't had to take any time off during August or September for the boys being sick. And then WHAM!, just like that I'm out of work 4 days in one week. So yeah, I guess I jinxed that myself, huh? So long accrued leave, it was nice knowing you for that short while!
