Extra Free Time

We have Braedyn and Chase on the same nap schedule, they both nap from 12:00 - 2:00 every day. It's a nice, refreshing break for Ben and I, and they get some much needed rest in the middle of the day. Today was the first day in a very long time that Braedyn skipped his nap completely. Unfortunately, he really needed the rest because he hasn't been feeling that well, but he happened to get his second wind around 12:15, and that was the end of that. The good news though, is that because he skipped his nap, both boys were in bed by 7:00 pm tonight. I seriously have so much free time tonight that I'm actually starting to get bored! I haven't had this much free time at night since before Chase was born.

Both boys have not been feeling well all week long, so there isn't anything exciting to report, other than runny noses and really bad coughs. But I have been meaning to post about Braedyn's ever-expanding vocabulary. He is at the stage where he is starting to talk in complete sentences. And now that he's starting to piece his sentences together, it just really makes me realize how grown up he really is! Obviously, he's not saying 10 word sentences, but he's definitely speaking in full toddler-like sentences. So I thought I'd share some of his most popular dialogue, as it is rather entertaining.

"Stop it, Daddy, Stop it!"  --  I think I hear this a gazillion times a week. Usually Ben is doing something to purposely make Braedyn say this... like reciting lines from Thomas the Train videos or singing along to a song.

"Whoa, did you see that?!"  --  Whenever he sees something cool or exciting, he always says this, accompanied by a big smile on his face.

"No Chase, it's Braedyn's choo-choo train."  --  To which Chase just laughs and giggles, while Braedyn is having a panic attack at the thought of Chase touching his choo-choo trains.

"Daddy, I have a boo boo."  --  He just said this today, and it was the cutest thing ever. Not that we could actually see his boo boo, but he still demanded a band-aid for his "injury".

"Whoa, it's dark in here."  --  He says this alot now, usually when it's time for him to go to bed and we turn the lights off in his room.

"Chase, go take a nap."  --  You honestly can't help but to laugh at this one. Whenever Chase is disrupting Braedyn, which happens quite often, Braedyn tries to get rid of him by hinting to us that it's Chase's nap time.

"I love you, Mommy. Night-Night, I'll see you soon."  --  And this is one line I'll NEVER get tired of hearing. It always brings a huge smile to my face. Braedyn tells me this as I'm tucking him in for the night (usually when I'm tucking him in for the 3rd time, but who's counting), and it just melts my heart.

Since the boys have been sick, I only have two pictures to share since I'm sure you don't want to see pictures of snotty, exhausted tots. Chase learned how to drink from a straw a couple months ago. And trust me when I say that he is a proud straw-drinker! He grips his juice box and sucks as much juice as he can out of that straw.

Since Chase turned one, we've been having trouble with getting him to drink whole milk. He just never seemed to like the taste of it. But I recently discovered that if the milk is in a container with a straw, he will drink the milk with no complaints. Surely it's because he's more fascinated with the straw than anything else, but hey... whatever works, right?!

This picture of Braedyn was taken last weekend after we saw Elmo Live. It's the only good, recent picture of him since he was hit pretty hard with his sickness this week. When I was taking pictures of Braedyn on this turtle, I tried and tried (unsuccessfully) to get him to smile. You want to know what finally got him to smile... a few motorcycles riding by on the nearby road. Notice that he's not looking at me, but rather the motorcycles!

I'm in the process of planning our fall schedule - Disney World, Sea World, the zoo, Braedyn's birthday party, not to mention all the holiday activities. So send some healthy vibes our way... with the flu season upon us, we're seriously hoping to avoid any more illnesses!
