Cat Toy Mystery... Solved!

My kitties have these little, furry mice that are their favorite cat toy of all time... well, aside from the toys that have catnip in them. It seems like no matter how many furry mice we buy, they all disappear within a week. And if you've ever bought cat toys, then you know what it's like to pay $4.99 for a cheap, little piece of nothing that clearly cost no more than 15 cents to produce. So anyway, these cat toys mysteriously disappear all the time... much like those 5 mismatched socks that you can't ever seem to find the match for.

Well, we are in the process of getting are floors redone. The contractors worked in the kitchen today, and moved out the stove and refrigerator during this process. And lo and behold, guess what they found.....

.... that's right, count 'em.... there are 25 cat toys here - that's a good $19 worth of cat loot. And what I'm having a hard time figuring out is this - why isn't a kitty cat able to process the logic of: "if I bat a toy in this direction, it disappears and never comes back". I mean... one, two, even three toys I can understand.... but 25!! What is that about?!?
