Did I Really Survive This Week?

Remember when I said that school was closed for two days... well those two days turned into four days. And with each passing day of having two little ones at home, I'm happy to report that I am quickly getting my wine tolerance back. I've stopped using the small, sissy wine glass and have graduated back up to the jumbo wine glass.

Aaaahhh, where to begin... school ended up being closed for 4 days this week, mainly because the tropical storm stopped moving for a solid day or so, so we just got tons of rain dumped on us the past two days which caused lots of flooding. But even worse, it caused us to be locked inside the house. And if you think it's a handful being home with two little ones, it's even worse when Braedyn is going stir crazy because he can't go outside. I can't really put into words the roller coaster of a week I've had, but Ben took this picture during the week, and I think it pretty much sums things up perfectly!

Yup, that's me, looking like I haven't slept in 3 days (which is kinda true), and that's Braedyn trying to climb on me as he attempts to get just as much Mommy-time as Baby Chase. And this is pretty much the epitome of my week.

The end result of it all: I think I nearly had my finger pulled off on a daily basis from Braedyn grabbing it as he tried to walk me somewhere or show me something. I've become immune to Motrin after living on it to relieve some headaches and pain. And I think I've memorized all 50 of Braedyn's books as we've read them over and over and over again. Braedyn also learned to let out all his energy by running all around the house as fast as he could. Sure he ran right smack into a wall every now and then, but hey, no pain no gain, right?!?

But I do have to give lots of credit to my mom and sister who visited during the week to help keep my sanity in check. My sister and nephew came over for a day, which was great watching our kids play and interact with each other. And my mom very graciously came over every single day. She took great care of Chase, and after the second day, Braedyn started to get really excited when Grandma showed up because he knew it meant that he had me all to himself. haha. I'm telling you, this child is a heck of a lot smarter than you think. And today, well today the clouds parted and heaven shined down on me as I was afforded the opportunity to go grocery shopping - all by myself - as my mom babysat the kids for me. It was the longest, most relaxing grocery shopping trip I've had in as long as I could remember!

And after all the rain we received, our pool overflowed and we had to drain it twice already to get the water level down. Here is a picture of it as the water level is tipping over onto the pool deck. As you can tell, our lazy butts wait until the last minute to drain the water, unlike most people who take precautions and drain it in advance. Oh well, no one said we were the most hurricane, errr, I mean, tropical storm savvy people.

So after this long, exhausting week, I'm looking forward to having my husband home all weekend to help out with the boys. And maybe I'll even be able to squeeze a Sea World trip out of him for all my hard work! And since men aren't great at reading between the lines, I'll just flat out say it, "Ben, we're going to Sea World... period!!"

OO that pool looks inviting even with it over flowing! I so feel you. I think I'll be there in about 2 months when my new little one comes along!
