Tropical Storm Effects

Here she blows... Tropical Storm Fay. Call me crazy, but since when did all of Central Florida close down for a tropical storm? Isn't that only reserved for hurricane-status storms? Schools are already closed on Tuesday and Wednesday - which of course includes Braedyn's school. In fact, I think the only office open tomorrow would be the one where my husband works. So what this all means is that I'll be a stay-at-home-mom to two kids for two days, all by myself.

I know, I know, most of you are like "so what, what's the big deal". Well, the big deal is that when both little ones are at home, Ben is usually here to pick up half the load. Inevitably, when I sit down to feed Chase, that is the precise moment that Braedyn decides he needs to show me something, and he attempts to grab my hand and take me on a walk to who-knows-where. And when this happens, Ben is there to intercept Braedyn and divert his attention. So needless to say, I'm so not prepared for the next two days given the limited sleep I get on a daily basis. I know I'm a wimp, but I'll be the first to give major props to stay-at-home moms of multiple kids. God bless the strength you must have!!!

My one and only saving grace is that my mom is off work tomorrow. So thankfully she is coming over to save the day, as she'll take care of and dote on Baby Chase. However, I'm truly screwed on Wednesday - there's no way around it. I'm coping with this by currently guzzling down a glass of wine and cramming a rice krispie treat in my mouth. (I'm sure that bodes well for my weight watchers plan.)

Ben has already informed me that with all the rain we will be getting, the pool will likely overflow. Ummm... yeah, thanks for letting me know that tidbit of information, I'm sure I'll sleep much better tonight knowing that. My sister from out-of-town called to tell me the following statement, "your area is potentially at risk for losing power during the storm". Ummm, again, yeah thanks for that brilliant insight. I vaguely remember all this from when we suffered through three major hurricanes in 2004. During the second hurricane that lasted for two whole days, I remember looking out the window thinking to myself "what is all that black stuff in my yard"... and then it finally dawned on me that the "black stuff" was my roof shingles peeling off and flying away. Yep, those were good times.

So as I drink the last of my wine, I can't help but to be slightly annoyed by Tropical Storm Fay. (I never did like the name Fay!) After looking in the pantry, I'm happy to report that we've got plenty of canned ravioli and powder kool-aid packets to last us for weeks! So if you'll excuse me, I now need to go gather up the candles (too bad I don't have a lighter to light them with) and find the flashlight (you know, the flashlight that only works when you bang on the end of it a few times).

P.S. Tropical Storm Fay, you had better not interfere with my Olympic dvr coverage!!
