Ohhhh, the Crying - Make it Stop!

I finally managed to get a picture of Baby Chase with his eyes wide open. Chase never had blue eyes like most newborns. His eyes are a dark green, and I'm sure they will be brown in no time flat. The upside is less pictures with red-eye that results from blue eyes - not that it really matters though since his eyes are closed in 95% of the pictures anyway.

So, my story goes like this... see this cute picture below of Baby Chase. See how angelic he looks, so calm, so peaceful, so innocent. Well, I'm here to tell you it's all an act! ALL OF IT!!!

Because every single night beginning around 7:00 or 8:00, this child exercises his lungs of steel like you wouldn't believe. He cries, and cries, and then cries some more. It's hard to describe the ear piercing, blood curling screams that hit my ear drums night after night, but use your imagination to add some sound to the picture below, and THAT is what it's like. Can you say Oh My Gosh!!!

So once we get Braedyn to sleep, Chase wakes up and takes us through his nightly ritual. And oh, did I mention that this lasts for about 2-3 hours each night. Now, I'm pretty sure that all the crying results from some gas issues. And I've always been led to believe that at Chase's age, he's too young for this to be colic. But with this happening primarily at night, and not any other time during the day, could it be that my child has defied the odds and already has colic? Surely this isn't the case, right? Seriously... tell me this isn't the case!! Because if this is the case, then I'm giving a big ole' "DAMN YOU" shoutout to all those people that told me "if your first child is an angel, the next one will be the complete opposite"... you've jinxed me!!

Chase has a pediatrician appointment this week, and I'm already bracing myself for his doctor's response to this issue. Surely it won't be something as simple as switching up his food. I'm pretty sure it'll be more along the lines of "it's just something he has to outgrow" or "yup, sounds like colic". Until then, I guess Chase will keep exercising his lungs of steel as we endure CryFest 2008. And oh, let me know if anyone is available for babysitting duty in the evenings... around 7:00'ish to 10:00'ish.

He will be graduating to before you know it. He is so cute. Ty had colic for 2 to 3 months yep! I thought I would throw him against the wall to splat and not care. It was ruff not sleeping. We tried everything. Jello water which he threw up all over me every hour. We started adding a teaspoon of oatmeal to his milk and it helped. Chase is a little young yet for that. But worth a try. If it constipates him add a little apple juice or sauce to his diet. Try anything!!!!!!!! Connie T.

Oh my! He looks just like Ben. What a cutie! Girl, this is one of the main reasons of me not having another one. I KNOW that I will get the 2nd kid that is no where near an angel like Jordan was. I admit, I'm scared. I will tell you this though, my girlfriend had the same problem with the screaming in the evening starting promptly at 6pm and I'm sad to say he was colic. But I have hope for you. Good luck, I'm thinking of you.

Ru-roh...I can't even imagine two or 3 hours of crying like that. But it wasn't a jinx...if baby one is a joy, baby two is the devil. If baby one was the devil, then you can count on baby 2 being calm and cool.

BTW, does Chase look like you as a baby? He really seems like the opposite of Braedyn! And I believe you posted a pic of Ben as a baby and Braedyn looked like him!
