Two Years Later

A Poem for Braedyn

Exactly two years ago
We were overcome with joy
Cradled within our arms
Was our newborn baby boy.

Daddy was a little scared at first
He didn’t quite know what to do
But he was quickly changing diapers
Even the ones that had poo.

You grew up so very fast
Right before our eyes
But we were thankful to be done
With the newborn baby cries.

You were crawling, then walking
And always on the go
We were so proud of all you did
Until you learned how to say “No”.

We embraced our life as parents
And decided to double the fun
Before long, you were a big brother
You were no longer the only one.

You played with your brother for a bit
And then wanted to send him back
To show him you were the boss
Sometimes you’d give him a whack.

After a few months had passed
You realized he was here to stay
So you became the very best big brother
In every possible way.

Mommy and Daddy are proud of you
These moments we deeply adore
We love you more than life itself
Today, tomorrow and forevermore.

It's crazy how time flies, isn't it? And after they're a year or two old, it's amazing to look back at the photos and see how much they have changed, yet stayed the same!

And I hope Santa is giving you what you want (and need) this year (ie, Chase is still sleeping 11.5 hours!)

I could just pinch his little cheeks all day long!

Congrats on all the sleep. You must be spoiled.

He changes and grows so much. Love the poem. I bet back in high school when you wrote poems you never thought the subject matter would one day be kids, huh? :)
