Toddler Forms of Self-Entertainment

As Braedyn gets older, we are thoroughly entertained with all the stuff he learns, says and does. He is always finding new ways to entertain himself - some good (like playing independently with his cars and trucks) and some bad (like climbing on the couch and trying to jump to the other end of it). Here are some pictures of Braedyn's newest forms of entertainment.

He pulled down one of Ben's shirts from the closet and wanted to wear it. So Ben put it on him (surely you can tell Ben put that shirt on him and not me, right... I would've at least put his arms through the armholes), and then he ran around the living room showing off his big boy shirt. The funniest part of all was when he tried to pick up one of his toys... he couldn't figure out where the hell his hands were. This was pretty high entertainment value.

We finally started putting the step stool in front of the bathroom sink so that Braedyn could watch himself as he brushes his teeth. I'm not sure if this is all kids, but Braedyn loves to look at himself in the mirror. In fact, what he loves most about this is 1) looking in the mirror; and 2) putting his toothbrush under the running water. He does try to brush his teeth, but he doesn't get much further than sucking all the toothpaste off of the toothbrush. But he is so proud of brushing his own teeth, that he'll randomly want to brush his teeth throughout the day. He'll say "teet, teet", and run in the bathroom and push the stool in front of the sink. It's pretty cute... well, that is until it gets to the point where he's brushing his teeth for the third time before 11:00 am... then it's just flat out annoying. =)

I just recently started putting bubbles in Braedyn's bath (yeah, yeah, I know... I'm a bit behind on the whole bubble bath thing). I showed Braedyn how to pick up the bubbles with his hands, so he does that now when he's in the bath. After he picks up the bubbles, he stares in awe and says "woah". This is great because it distracts him quite well as I get him clean. Of course, as soon as that first cup of water gets poured over his hair to rinse out the soap, he shakes the bubbles off his hand and tries to climb out of the tub faster than you can say "bubble".

And finally, Braedyn's newest form of entertainment is eating an apple like an adult. I used to cut up the apple in little pieces for him, but he decided he's ready to be a big boy. Trust me when I tell you that he gnawed on this apple for 2-3 days. The first time he ate the apple, the front of his shirt was completely soaked. So now when he wants an apple, he'll go and grab one of Chase's bibs and bring it to me and say "ap-ul, ap-ul". If I had known how much quality time he likes to spend gnawing on an apple, I would've started this months ago!

And you know that I can't write a post without showing at least one picture of Baby Chase. Can you believe that this little guy is teething already?!? I noticed that he started drooling quite a bit lately, so I looked in his mouth and was in shock to see his bottom two teeth buds already. I took multiple pictures trying to get a picture of them, but this is the best picture I could get... no teeth buds, just his tongue. haha.

Nicholas loves looking at himself in the mirror too. He makes faces at himself all the time. He likes to do the same thing in the car using the rear view mirror!
