What Makes Me Smile... at the moment

Braedyn has become fascinated with watching videos and pictures on the computer. Not just any videos and pictures though, they have to be specifically of him. So we prop him up in the computer chair and play different videos for him. When he looks at pictures, he always says who the picture is of (mama, dada, bray-in (Braedyn) or keyce (that would be Chase). It's pretty cute... you know, cute having a child so self-absorbed with himself. haha.

When it's time for Braedyn to go to bed at night, he does everything possible to avoid the side of the house where his bedroom is located. He has even started to make other places "his bed" in an effort to fool us into thinking he's actually asleep so he doesn't have to go to his room. Last night when it was time to go to bed, he threw himself down on the exercise mat in our bedroom and pretended to go to sleep by saying "night night". The other day when it was time for his nap, he dragged his monkey and bear off his bed and brought it out to the living room, then proceded to lay down and go to sleep. The funniest thing about this picture is the body position that Braedyn is in (click picture to enlarge). I guess when you pretend to be sleeping, you just lay in whatever position you land in.

Now you may ask yourself why would oreos make me smile. Well, what actually makes me smile is the fact that this bag of oreos is finally gone. I haven't had oreos in a long time, and let me tell you, these were just downright irresistable. I won't lie, I ate 1/2 the bag. Okay, that was a lie... I actually ate at least 3/4 of the bag. In fact, I ate so many of these, that one day Ben went to get a few cookies, and upon seeing the bag nearly empty he said "oh my gosh, did you really eat all of these cookies". (Don't worry, he definitely got the silent treatment after that comment.)

I used to love tae-bo and did the work out tapes religiously (sure that was 10 years ago, but whatever...). Anyway, I decided to brush the layers and layers of dust off the tae bo tape yesterday and give it a try. (I'm telling you, this sleep deprivation thing is clearly not making me think straight!) I am proud to say that I was able to complete the one-hour advanced workout video, and am still able to walk today without much pain. This is great news, because due to my recent rekindled love for oreos, it's quite obvious that I need to do lots more tae bo in the near future.

I will be the first to admit that I have majorly slacked on teaching Braedyn how to use a spoon - or any utensil for that matter. I was just soooo not about the mess (I know, an ironic statement considering I have two kids, right?). I mean, it would be different if there was tile in our dining room, or if we had a dog to clean up the scraps. Anyway, I finally decided a few weeks ago that we needed to have Braedyn practice as much as possible with a spoon. And last night at dinner - for the first time - he was able to scoop up the food and get it in his mouth (he could never get the whole scooping thing before). And the best part was, he was eating chicken and rice, and he was still able to get most of the small rice kernels in his mouth. This was a very proud moment!!

And finally, in two days Chase will be exactly 3 months old. You know what that means, everything will change and get "better". Isn't 3 months the *magical* age that everyone tells you about. It's always "just wait until 3 months, he'll be a whole new baby" or "things get so much easier at 3 months". So I'm quite excited at the thought that in just 2 whole days, Chase will miraculously start sleeping through the night, he'll stop crying so much, he won't be as fussy about his teething issues, and oh, did I mention the sleeping through the night thing - rather than still waking up 3x a night?!? Man oh man, two days from now is going to be absolutely G-R-E-A-T!!
