Feeding Myself

A couple weeks ago, I bought some fruit puffs for Braedyn so he could try different food textures and practice chewing and picking up the small puffs with his little fingers. He was definitely interested in putting the puffs in his mouth, but once they were in his mouth - he was not a happy camper! So I tried them again here and there, and same reaction... he made his 'this stuff is yucky' face.

Fast forward to this week... I noticed that on Braedyn's daily activity sheet for preschool yesterday it said that he had fruit puffs for an afternoon snack. Upon further inquiry of his teachers, I was informed that apparently Braedyn *loves* his banana fruit puffs they give him at school, and eats them quite often. HUH? WHAT? How could this be? So at this point, I have no choice but to admit the obvious - I have once again been duped by the Little Tyke!!

So, as punishment (hehe), I sat him in his chair after we got home today and put some fruit puffs on his high chair table, and cheered him on as I snapped some pictures...

In the picture above, after I put some fruit puffs on Braedyn's plate, he quickly scooped up a couple with his hands (as if he's a professional self-feeder or something).

And here is our little guy attempting to put the puffs in his mouth. The only problem is he hasn't quite figured out how to open his fist so he can actually put the puffs in his mouth. But hey, knowing what to do with them is half the battle, right? Right?!

And here is the wonderful 'yucky' face Braedyn is so famous for (at home anyway). I'm happy to say that his yucky face actually disappeared after the first couple puffs. So hopefully he will soon be happily and eagerly feeding himself finger foods at home... you know, the same way he's been doing at preschool for weeks now.

He is growing up so fast and learning so much. That little 'yucky' face is too cute.
