Goldfish Crackers = Yummy to my Tummy!!

When we visited Ben's parents last weekend, his mom, Judi, offered me some Goldfish crackers to snack on. I politely declined because I've never been a big fan of Goldfish crackers. In fact, I haven't had goldfish crackers in about 10 years, no lie! And the last I remember about Goldfish is that they were just WAY too cheesy for me. After I declined and Judi asked, "Are you sure?", I decided to reconsider because I was a tad bit hungry. So I tried some, and you know what, the 2007 version of Goldfish crackers are DE-LI-CIOUS!! I just couldn't get enough!!

So when we went grocery shopping yesterday, I just had to buy a bag of Goldfish... you know, for when I just need a quick snack to satisfy me. And below is a picture of the bag proudly displayed on my pantry shelf (notice the box of Slim-Fast bars tucked away in the very back, haha).

Well, I have since discovered that there is some secret ingredient in Goldfish that makes them irresistable, and it makes you just want more and more. I've also discovered that one bag of Goldfish contains 330 little fishies, 840 calories, and 30 fat grams. You know why I know all these facts... because after I devoured the ENTIRE bag within less than 24 hours of purchasing it, my guilt was too overbearing and I just had to know how much damage I had done. However, I have also realized that I am not to blame for this horrible eating binge, but rather... it is all Judi's fault! Her and the "are you sure you don't want some, they're really good". I mean, seriously, why do people have to be so damn polite and giving?!

But, the best part is that I couldn't bear to throw the bag away, because I am still ashamed of the fact that I ate the entire bag all by myself. So instead of throwing it away, I put the empty bag back on the pantry shelf. In fact, the picture shown above is actually the empty bag. Pretty misleading, eh? I'll probably wait about one week before I throw the bag away, that way I'll fool myself into thinking that I ate all 330 Goldfish over a one-week period. That will help to ease some of the pain. But until then, everytime I go to the pantry, I still pick up the bag of Goldfish, thinking that by some miracle, it will be replenished with more crackers. I'm sure when Ben reads this, he will be just oh-so-proud of his wonderful wife. Just remember Honey, this is all YOUR MOM's fault!!!!

P.S. Judi, please make sure you have a fresh supply of Goldfish for when we visit next time, but don't tell anyone that I asked for them. It'll just be our little secret, okay?

Wait a minute, Patty, you've just ruined my goldfish snacking. I've never read the label, knowing full well it wouldn't be pretty. After all, what you don't know can't hurt, right? You see, I too feel guilty every time I polish off a bag (Costco-sized, yet) but I didn't think they were THAT bad! Hmmm, now I'm saving my 6 unopened bags for your next visit. We'll see if we can just eat 100 calories worth. Yeah, right!
